Miguel Chávez, MA, LMHC, NCC

My experience

I have been working with community agencies since 2017 and earned my master’s in counseling in August 2019 from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. My professional journey spans community health agencies, university, private practice, and group practice settings. Throughout these roles, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals of all ages and diverse cultural backgrounds, helping them navigate a wide range of challenges. As a bilingual native Spanish speaker, I bring a deeper understanding of cultural nuances to my work. These experiences have shaped my dedication to practicing with cultural competence, social awareness, a trauma-informed perspective, and an affirming approach.

As a licensed psychotherapist with over 8 years of experience, I specialize in serving LGBTQI+ and BIPOC communities, utilizing Telehealth to provide accessible and inclusive care. As a queer therapist, my lived experience deeply informs my culturally affirming, trauma-informed approach—especially when working with queer and trans individuals, BIPOC clients, and those navigating questions of identity and belonging. I focus on individual therapy and collaborate closely with clients to support them through difficult life transitions in a compassionate and empowering way.
